These Kids...

... make me SOOOO happy. I cannot even express how much joy has come to our home since Pee-Wee has arrived. I know, I sound a little over the top, but nothing is as great as holding a newborn baby. Nothing. And I'm loving every second of it. Pee-Wee loves to be held and is so content in my arms. So, what do I do? Hold him pretty much all the time. They say you can't spoil a newborn, but...

And I don't even mind that the house is in disarray and I can barely keep up on the essentials like dishes, laundry (which we have a ton of, thanks to a terrible case of reflux), and groceries. It's a good thing that babies don't come easily for us because no kidding, I 'd keep having them and then they'd grow up and I wouldn't know what to do with myself (or them) anymore. So then I'd keep having more babies. Oh, I just love babies. Especially mine.

The only thing that rivals the greatness of a new baby is watching my oldest son grow up into such a helpful and loving big brother. Buddy has never had such good behavior. I have to admit I've been pleasantly shocked by how smooth the transition has been to having two kids. I guess the stress of the adoption was wearing on Buddy too because he has barely misbehaved* in the 7 weeks since Pee-Wee was born. He is delightful, will do ANYTHING I ask him to do, and in fact gets offended if I don't let him help enough. He is quite rough with his baby brother, but Pee-Wee doesn't mind. Buddy sings him songs, prays for him about 10 times a day, and even gave him a "blessing" a couple days ago. He hasn't shown any resentment, jealousy, and surprisingly, he hasn't done much of his usual attention-seeking (well, maybe just a little).

*One of the rare times Buddy was "mean" to his brother, I corrected him obviously. I wasn't mad, I just tried to explain how Pee-Wee is just a baby, etc. Buddy didn't like being corrected apparently because he told me, "I can't hear you. I'm deaf." (No, the new baby hasn't corrected his smart mouth.)

And one more anecdote that has nothing to do with what I've been talking about -- but it's funny so I have to record it somewhere: Yesterday Buddy went to preschool and I guess they're starting to learn about nutrition and food. Apparently the mom that's teaching this week made the kids bread pudding. The recipe was called Winnie the Pooh's Bread Pudding, or something like that. Well, she told them that and when I arrived to pick them up, she informed me that Buddy did NOT want her to put honey on his bread pudding because "it would make his mouth sticky." On the car ride home I asked him why, since I thought he liked honey. He said, "Winnie the Pooh got fat when he ate too much honey." Oh dear...

Coming next time I update the blog: My unsolicited advice on getting a baby to sleep through the night.

These pictures are awesome. Do you have time to do anything else but stare into Pee Wee's eyes?

After reading this post, I am even more excited to meet my new baby. I can't wait!

I'm soliciting the advice. Hank enjoys nighttime more than any other time, which worries me.
